Armoroc was installed as both the structural floor sheathing,
and the structural roof deck in this multi-story residential
building shown below. Armoroc installs like
plywood with carpentry tools, allowing the elimination of
the wet trade and
associated costs & hassles.
For the floors 3/4" Armoroc was installed directly to the
Marino\WARE JoistRite floor framing system. As you can
see in the picture below, Armoroc is factory sealed with a
white sealer on all six sides of the panel. This
factory sealer protects Armoroc cement board in the event of
moisture / weather exposure. Armoroc and JoistRite
create a great system for any floor/roof assembly. 1 &
2-hour assemblies have been tested and MEA Approved for NYC.
This system is cost effective, quick,
trade-friendly and easy to install. It's a win-win for
the building owner and the installer.

sheathing
Armoroc installed as structural floor sheathing
Here you can see that
Armoroc was installed as the roof deck and parapet.
Contractors have completed the Armoroc installation
and are making final preparations for the roof
finish. This was a cold-weather installation,
and since Armoroc is sealed, it will remain
protected from rain, snow
& ice exposure. Judging by the smile, we're guessing
this contractor saved a bundle of time and money by choosing
Armoroc for the structural floor & roof sheathing.
Here 3/4" Armoroc has
been designed and installed as the structural roof
deck over sloped roof trusses spaced at 24", and
finished with a nail-applied architectural shingle.
This 6-story building is located on the coast of the
Great Lakes, and is a great example of Armoroc's
ability to provide a single-layer fire-rated roof
decking. Armoroc is a cost-effective method to
achieve a fire-rated roof assembly.
Here 3/4" Armoroc is being utilized for the structural floor
sheathing. Working with Armoroc on a jobsite is more
like working with plywood then with a poured product.
You can leave Armoroc exposed for a period of time without
worrying about effects of weather, as you would with FRT
Plywood. Additionally, you don't need to bring in the
wet-trades, block off streets for trucks and pumps, or wait
for curing time. Once Armoroc is delivered on site, it
is installed and ready for finishing.
Below is a picture of
Armoroc structural cement board attached to common
C-Joist floor framing. You can see how Armoroc
is factory treated on all 6 sides with a smooth coat
of white sealer for protection from the elements and
variations in humidity.
Armoroc is a
cost-effective decking system for multi-story
residential as seen in this 6 story building.
Armoroc is
screwed to traditional 'C' Joists and ready to
finish.
Project 4 - Multi Story Residential: Floors & Roof
Armoroc is delivered to
the jobsite in bundles and boomed up to each floor
where it is immediately installed to light-gage
metal joists. Much easier than a poured
product and more cost effective than other methods
of fire-resistant construction. Armoroc weighs
under 5 lbs/sf which reduces alot of weight, and
support requirements from the building. This
reduction in collateral building materials not only
saves money, but is very environmentally friendly.
Armoroc installed as floor sheathing
Armoroc works great as roof
sheathing - here as a roof deck.
Here's
another job where Armoroc is being installed as the
fire-rated floor assembly for these multi-story residential
condominiums.
Armoroc is used to replace poured
concrete and metal decking. Instead, Armoroc is boomed
to the floor, distributed by hand, and screwed to the metal
joists.
The Armoroc system integrates seamlessly
with other traditional building methods and saves time,
weight, materials, and money.

(FSGE). Nonnie & Mark discuss their
experience using
Armoroc Cement Bonded Particle Board,
and other green products they used in the FSGE.
Armoroc was used as the structural floor sheathing and is
noted for its strength & fire, moisture, weather, termite
and sound resistance. Other links associated with the
FSGE are the
Global Green Alliance
& the Green Earth Expo 2008. Armoroc is
mentioned at approx 3:50 into the video.
Editors Note: Pre-drilling is not
required, and Armoroc makes an excellent roof sheathing!
